Solid or engineered?
Solid hardwood is one piece of wood all the way through, so it can be sanded and refinished many times over its life. It's the classic choice for living rooms, bedrooms, and halls on above-grade floors.
Engineered hardwood is a real wood top layer bonded to a stable core. It moves less with humidity, which makes it a good fit over concrete, in basements and in rooms where seasonal swings would make solid boards cup or gap. We'll tell you which one suits each room.
Site-finished or prefinished?
Site-finished floors are installed raw, then sanded and finished in place. The surface comes out flat and sealed edge to edge, and you can pick any stain and sheen.
Prefinished boards arrive with the finish already on, so the house is livable sooner and there's no finishing smell. We install both and can walk you through the trade-offs for your home.
What we check before we install
Most floor problems start under the floor. Before we install, we check the subfloor for flatness and squeaks and measure moisture in both the subfloor and the new wood. We let the flooring acclimate when it needs to. It takes a little longer, and it's why our floors stay tight.
